Who Murdered Virunga Gorillas

In July 2007 in the DRC (Democratic Republic Congo) seven Mountain Gorillas were slaughtered, only 700 remaining in the world. They were tortured, burned & mutilated.

Brent Stirton, a South African photojournalist shot the Iconic image of the Silverback gorilla while on assignment for Newsweek. Because of this photo we wanted him to work on a more in-depth piece for NGM and explore the complexities of the region and who was ultimately responsible for the killings.
