Changing Climate
(National Geographic Special Issue)
CHANGING CLIMATE, a special issue of National Geographic published in April 2008, shows how we can deal with the complexities of global warming, through individual, community and national actions. Changing Climate highlights the pivotal role that carbon plays in climate change. The issue reveals our “footprint”—the ways each of us adds carbon to the planet. Measuring that impact offers an easily understood way to link many different actions to their effects on climate. Building on that understanding, the issue goes on to suggest steps we can take to reduce our individual and collective carbon “footprints.” The issue gives readers a simple and accurate understanding of the broad issues of global climate change as they pertain to their everyday lives—and changes readers can make to address the consequences of our warming world.
