JoJo Harris 2018

The water is Special Olympics swimmer JoJo Harris’ Happy Place Reno, Nevada, June 2, 2018— Jolina “JoJo” Harris, 12, Special Olympics swimmer, younger sister to a Olympian and young woman with autism who is able-bodied, but lives mostly in her own world.

Harris joined the Special Olympics after moving to Las Vegas with her family from a military base in the Marshall Islands. She recently competed at the Special Olympics Nevada Summer Games at the Lombardi Recreation Center in three swimming events; 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter freestyle and the 50-meter backstroke. She is a young athlete who is an amazing swimmer and through the sport has made great strides in her life. She is autistic, swam before she could walk and was nonverbal until about a year ago. She has a tight family bond, especially with her big brother who is also is a competitive swimmer.
