Brazil — Rio de Janiero Carnival

Experiencing Rio de Janeiro’s renowned Carnival is something everyone should do once in their lifetime. Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival is the king of all carnivals every year prior to the start of Lent, where it transforms into the biggest party on the planet, attended by over five million people from all around the world. The highlight of Rio Carnival is the world-renowned Samba Parade’s hosted in the Sambadrome, featuring the twelve most elite Sambo schools, starting in the late evening and lasting until dawn. And, throughout the week of Carnival explore the various neighborhoods experiencing their “bloco” parties such as Rio’s largest favela, Rochina, built on a steep hillside overlooking Leblon Beach. Around 200,000 people live in this slum, shanty town and the Community Center host a Bloco party for the kids. Or high in the hills, with beautiful views, experience the local art and culture of Santa Teresa neighborhood or wander through Central downtown.
