Alaska Aerials — Exploring Mt Denali By Plane

Denali National Park and Preserve extends 600 miles through the Alaska Range in the central part of the state. The only road through Denali National Park and Preserve is 92 miles long, parallels the Alaskan Range and travels through low valleys and high mountain passes. Ruth Glacier and medial moraines, where dark stripes of rock debris are carried on, in, and beneath the ice as the glaciers move downslope in the Alaska Range. In the tundra area at lower elevations, layers of topsoil collect on rotten fragmented rock moved by thousands of years of glacial activity. Higher elevations like Polychrome Pass gets its name from the colorful volcanic rocks and also to the colorful vegetation, streams, mountains and glaciers that make this spot unique.
